    Professor Lewin is the Director of the International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot. She is also an Academic Fellow of the Centre for Maritime Law, National University of Singapore, where she teaches an LLM unit in Carriage of Passengers by Sea

    This is the third and final event in the Academy’s Access to Justice series for 2018. Whereas the second one focussed on "Overcoming financial barriers", this time the debate will be on "Overcoming non-financial barriers".

    The non-financial barriers are various and numerous: difficulties associated with language, culture, age, geographical location, disabilities whether physical or intellectual, and others.

    The Panel will be held at The Banco Court, Level 13 Law Courts Building, Queen's Square, Sydney on Tuesday 27 November 2018.

    You are warmly invited to the launch of the book, The Future of Australian Legal education, by the Hon Justice Margaret Beazley AO, the President of the New South Wales Court of Appeal. The book, published by Thomson Reuters, is a collection of papers that were presented at the Conference held under the same title in August 2017 by the Australian Academy of Law and the Australian Law Journal on the occasion of their 10th and 90th anniversaries (respectively).

    The launch in the Banco Court, Sydney on 28 November 2018 and will be followed by “Christmas refreshments” in the foyer.

    Harvard University is seeking to appoint a distinguished scholar to the Gough Whitlam and Malcolm Fraser Chair in Australian Studies for the 2020–2021 academic year. The Australian Nominating Committee encourages applications from outstanding Australians in mid-career as well as those further advanced. It also strongly encourages applications from women and under-represented groups. Shortlisted candidates will be identified by the Australian Nominating Committee for internal review by the Harvard Committee on Australian Studies. Candidates who are qualified to teach in a department, degree program or field of study offered in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences are particularly encouraged.
