  • AAL’s Board-approved Policies

    The Board of the Academy has approved a number of policies relating to core functions of the Academy.
    These include statements:

1.         clarifying the process for nomination by a Fellow of another distinguished lawyer to be a Fellow of the Academy;
2.         settling the process and policy for the collection of subscriptions, and the whole or partial waiver of subscriptions in exceptional circumstances;
3.         confirming the policy on the various scholarships and prizes that the Academy offers;
4.         confirming a financial reserves and expenditures policy;
5.         delegating expenditure approval authority;
6.         adopting guidelines for events conducted under the Academy’s name, including co-sponsored or co-badged events; and
7.         clarifying that only the President or their delegate has authority to make public statements (including speaking ‘on the record’ to the media) on behalf of the Academy.
